Registration is at 7 a.m. Fishing will be from 7 a.m. until noon. Prizes will be given away and, at 11:30 a.m., Tifton Kiwanis will provide a free hot dog lunch. The Kids Fishing Event is a free fishing day to all Georgia residents.

    Published 9:00 am Friday, June 6, 2025 BALTIMORE — Rashod Bateman is going to be sticking around even longer with the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens announced Thursday that Bateman signed a contract extension. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the extension is for three years and $36.75 million ($20 million guaranteed). Healthy for the past two seasons, the former Tift County Blue Devil had a career high in yardage and touchdowns in 2024. He gained 756 yards on 45 receptions.

If you wanted a preview of, say, the college football season or Major League Baseball, you went to the magazine rack and bought a magazine. There were seemingly hundreds available, even at the Rite-Aid in Nashville, Georgia. In one of these guides one year, perhaps Athlon, were a series of short paragraph summaries for each team. Two stood out, for the Cubs and the Mets.

Hayden Murphy’s Auburn (41-18) team is playing Coastal Carolina(51-11) in a best-of-three super regional series beginning Friday. Those hopeful to catch a glimpse of the former Tiftarea Panther can tune in to ESPN2 at 9 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday to see the games.

    Published 11:10 am Wednesday, June 4, 2025 Tifton native Austin Brown auditioned for judges Tuesday night on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, but was not able to move on in the competition. Formerly of a cappella group Home Free, Brown told judges he was seeking a solo career. He announced himself as being from Tifton, but now living in Tennessee. Brown sang parts of the Percy Sledge soul classic, “When a Man Loves a Woman” to big cheers from the crowd. Judge Sofia Vergara complimented Brown’s voice.
