Kids are always told not to play with their food — unless they’re anthropomorphizing a potato. In the 1940s, invented plastic eyes, noses, and mouths that you could stick into fruits and vegetables to create a face. Real mature: Anti-tourism protesters in Barcelona are squirting tourists with water guns to deter more from coming. A demonstration of ~2.8k protesters, organized by 100+ local groups, filled streets over the weekend to protest mass tourism’s impact on living costs and quality of life in the region. Barcelona, which saw ~26m visitors in 2023, isn’t the only fed-up locale: Venice, Amsterdam, Bali, and Kyoto have all taken steps to curb overtourism.

Edward Kang, 20, who allegedly told his mother he was going to visit a friend he’d met online, was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder and armed burglary. Prior to the IRL attack, Kang and the victim had only met virtually through the online game “ArcheAge,” a medieval fantasy role-playing game.
