The jury at a coroner’s inquest into the accidental overdose death of an 18-year-old University of Victoria student failed to return a verdict on the first day of deliberations. Around 4 p.m., lawyers for the family of deceased teen Sidney McIntyre-Starko told her parents deliberations would continue on Wednesday morning. In January of 2024, McIntyre-Starko and two other students ingested what they thought was cocaine in a dormitory on the school campus.

An East Vancouver woman has a warning for other renters – make sure you know your rights before signing any documents if the property you live in goes up for sale. As the province pushes pause on its electric vehicle rebate program, British Columbia auto dealers say the move will make all light-duty cars and trucks more expensive. Until May 15, eligible buyers can qualify for up to $4,000 in incentives on electric vehicles and certain plug-in electric hybrids.
