The Trump administration’s purge of online content related to diversity, equity and inclusion in the military went beyond removing feature articles of military firsts and images of soldiers as national news outlets initially reported. At the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, dozens of articles and podcasts have disappeared from its online journal, War Room, which publishes research, commentary and critical discussion on military issues.

After enjoying the title of fastest growing Pennsylvania county for a number of years, Cumberland County this past year overtook Pike County after Pike jumped to No. 1 in 2023, according to data released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau. But Cumberland County still sits at No. 2, because a tiny slice of northwestern Pennsylvania jumped them both: Forest County.

A subdivision and land development plan for 37 townhomes at the Morgan’s Crossing development of single-family homes got approval Thursday evening from South Middleton Township supervisors. The plan, approved with a 4-0 vote (supervisor Shelly Capozzi was absent), is Phase I of the development’s townhomes. The approval includes associated infrastructure, including stormwater management. Most of the 37 townhomes will be fourplexes, said Phil Garland, representing the development plan Thursday night.

Pennsylvanians suffer from “fractured” election processes and they should also care more about local races, former Republican Gov. Tom Corbett urged Wednesday at Dickinson College, lamenting voter distrust and apathy, inconsistent voting regulations and inaction from lawmakers. “We’re fractured in our politics now because of a lack of trust,” Corbett, the governor from 2011 to 2015, told The Sentinel after appearing in a conference about improving Pennsylvania elections.
