CUMBERLAND — Allegany County’s three commissioners and Administrator Jason Bennett at a public work session Thursday discussed updates to the fiscal 2026 budget proposal. The county’s projected revenue is roughly $1.1 million less than its expenditures. “We need to do something here,” Bennett said. The projected revenue included $3.7 million from a 6-cent increase in the real estate tax rate, and a .1% increase to the local portion of the income tax rate.
