Kenya News Agency

The Kenya News Agency (KNA) serves as the primary outlet for the Department of Information. Founded in 1963, it was created to help shape the identity of the emerging nation. Its primary aim was to foster a unified Kenyan identity by providing a consistent and harmonious voice. KNA collects, processes, and shares news in both print and electronic formats, focusing on the Kenyan perspective. This initiative worked alongside the Voice of Kenya (VOK), which is now known as the Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), to support the government's development goals. Before KNA, the Kenyan Information Service (KIS) was established in 1939 to share information during World War II, but it was discontinued in 1945.
