The Weather Authority has issued an *IMPACT DAY* for Thursday afternoon for severe storms. A cold front passage on Thursday will support the development of storms during the afternoon and evening hours. This is likely a damaging wind and large hail threat. The tornado risk is small. The strongest storms that can develop will be able to produce strong winds over 60 mph, isolated flash flooding, frequent lightning, and large hail. Outside of storms, wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph will be possible.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The next chance of strong to severe storms is Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center has a MARGINAL RISK of severe storms (1/5) on Thursday. This will not be a scenario like we had last Saturday night. Additional rainfall and strong winds could produce flash flooding, downed trees, and a few power outages. Futurecast shows showers and storms are in the afternoon Thursday.

Colder air continues to filter into north Alabama. Highs Friday only reach the lower 50s despite a mostly sunny sky. That will allow temperatures to drop in a hurry Friday night into Saturday morning. With that, the National Weather Service has issued a *FREEZE WATCH* for all of north Alabama for Saturday morning. Lows reach the upper 20s to lower 30s for the time frame. Plan to protect any tender vegetation Friday night into early Saturday.
