HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — We are about to turn hotter across the Deep South later this week, through into the new work week. This will be an extremely hot and humid air mass that will lead to a moderate to major heat risk for the region. A heat dome will build east beginning Thursday and then settle over the Deep South. A heat dome occurs when an area of high pressure forms above the surface, preventing the hot and humid air from escaping.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The unsettled weather pattern continues across the area this week as multiple disturbances move through the region. Along with this, expect the uncomfortable conditions to stick around as well. In the days ahead, the best chances for rain and storms will be during the peak heating hours of the day. With plenty of heat and moisture in place, it will create a favorable environment for storm development.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — After a quiet few days, the weather is forecast to turn active beginning Thursday afternoon. Along with the return of rain and storms, the heat and humidity will be on the rise. A warm front is forecast to track north Thursday morning before stalling over the region. This will support a continued flow of warm air and deep moisture over the southeast region.
