Xander Schauffele says it feels like Rory McIlroy has 'always got the better' of him in their tussles on the PGA Tour. Schauffele now believes his game is up there with the very best after he won two major championships in 2024. But he will now have to deal with a very different McIlroy after the 35-year-old finally clinched his maiden Masters title to complete the career grand slam. "It feels like he's gotten the best of me every time," Schauffele said of McIlroy.

The R&A has announced the 153rd Open will make history with a record attendance expected. Golf's oldest major heads to Royal Portrush over 17-20 July. The governing body has today revealed there was unprecedented demand for tickets with more than one million applications lodged through the ballot. Shane Lowry triumphed at the Dunluce links the last time the major was played at Portrush in 2019. On that occasion, 237,850 fans walked through the gates in Northern Ireland.

Multiple major champion Jack Nicklaus has revealed he told Rory McIlroy 'not to do dumb things' in their pre-Masters conversation. McIlroy, 35, finally fulfilled his lifetime ambition of slipping on the green jacket two weeks ago on his 17th attempt at Augusta National. The Northern Irishman had dinner with the Golden Bear before the first men's major of the year whereby he broke down his approach to every hole.

Justin Thomas has confirmed he will be sticking with his regular caddie Matt 'Rev' Minister despite ending his winless drought on the PGA Tour at the RBC Heritage with Max Homa's former looper. The 31-year-old clinched the signature event at Harbour Town Golf Links last week courtesy of a sudden-death playoff over Andrew Novak. It marked his first time in the winner's circle since the 2022 US PGA Championship at Southern Hills.

The PGA Tour's lone official team event of the season, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, once again takes place at TPC Louisiana this week where heavy pre-tournament favourites Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are back to defend their title. The 2025 Zurich Classic of New Orleans sees 80 teams of two players line up for PGA Tour team glory in New Orleans. A tournament record prize purse has been set at $9.2m. The winning team members will each earn $1.3m.
