    Canada is leading the way again - this time on spot solana ETFs. Such products from Purpose Investments, Evolve, 3iQ, and CI Global Asset Management are set to debut Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Crypto ETF milestones in Canada are not new. In case you forgot, Purpose launched the world's first bitcoin ETF backed by physically settled bitcoin in February 2021. Other issuers in the country brought their own products to market shortly after.

Some of the most recent actions are statements on crypto-related disclosures from the agency's Division of Corporation Finance. And the SEC again asked the court to pause its litigation with Binance. But the SEC's most meaningful move in recent months? The agency's swift creation of a crypto task force and corresponding roundtable meetings, according to StoneTurn partner Kyla Curley.

    The SEC yesterday approved options on spot ether ETFs by BlackRock, Fidelity and others. 21Shares also became the latest asset manager to float a dogecoin ETF. The upshot is that 2025 indeed appears to be a year we could see a lot more crypto products come to market.The level of demand for them will be another story. When the SEC approved options on bitcoin ETFs in October, industry watchers highlighted how it would enhance liquidity and price discovery around that ecosystem.

    You know what the stock market is doing broadly. And how BTC has trended lower, too. But what about crypto equities - particularly the one many deem to be the purest of them all? Coinbase's stock price hovered around $165 at 1:30 pm ET - down 35.6% year to date. That's worse than BTC and the Nasdaq Composite Index, which have decreased 13.6% and 15.2%, respectively, since the start of 2025.
