NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) - The annual Newport Jazz Festival has announced its 2025 lineup. Singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe, hip hop band The Roots, and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier top the list of performers, which also includes R&B singer Jorja Smith, bassist Esperanza Spalding, and legendary hip hop group De La Soul. Jazz fans can look forward to seeing vocalists Cécile McLorin Salvant and Dianne Reeves, as well as the Emmet Cohen Trio.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - The prosecution is expected to call more witnesses on Thursday as the trial of former North Kingstown coach Aaron Thomas continues. Thomas, who coached boys' basketball at North Kingstown High School for nearly 30 years, is on trial for second-degree child molestation and second-degree sexual assault. The trial started with jury selection on April 1, and witness testimony began on Monday.
