In the weeks leading up to Watches and Wonders 2025, we saw leaks related to a new Rolex watch called the Land-Dweller. The idea sent people into a tizzy. Here was a watch with a strange name and a familiar case. But was it real? Just after midnight on April 1st, we learned that the Land-Dweller was not only real but also a proper collection of watches. We saw them in Geneva, and today, I’ll share some firsthand impressions.

The Big Crown Pointer Date is a true staple in Oris’s history. It has been in the brand’s collection continuously since 1938. In 2021, Oris introduced a new and refined version of its beloved Big Crown Pointer Date. This 38mm watch featured the impressive Oris Calibre 403, a smooth bezel, and a cleaner dial layout. At Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025, Oris introduces no fewer than seven new references of the updated Big Crown Pointer Date.

Last year, I asked, “Can we appreciate the Rolex Submariner as just a great dive watch?” That question and article sparked a lot of debate. Today, I am asking a similar question of the Submariner’s spiritual competitor, the 42.3mm Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique. “Icon” is one of the most overused terms in the watch world. The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is one of the few dive watches, alongside the Doxa Sub 300, Zodiac Sea Wolf, and the Rolex Submariner, that truly deserves the title.

Another Friday, another list! This week, we’ll start looking ahead to Watches and Wonders. With the world’s biggest watch fair approaching, it’s time to highlight brands celebrating different anniversaries. One of them is Vacheron Constantin, which is celebrating its 270th anniversary in 2025. As that long history is too extensive to sum up with a handful of watches, we’ve picked our five favorite modern Vacheron Constantin pieces.

Another Friday, another list! This week, we’ll take a look at five great vintage Zenith watches. As I explained in last week’s list, that one and today’s are a little homage to Zenith. The brand from Le Locle is one of my favorite watchmakers. By releasing a seemingly never-ending stream of exciting and often surprising timepieces, Zenith has shown what it means to be properly creative. But the brand’s creative team does that based on Zenith’s rich history.
