Published 4:20 pm Thursday, March 6, 2025 Five Springville Middle School archery team students competed at regionals Saturday, March 1, at Pell City High School. Jordyn Lyster ranked 5th in the region for the female division and shot a personal best of 274/300. Wyatt Porter ranked 1st in the region for the male division shot his personal best of 273/300. The Big Canoe Creek Nature Preserve held its One Year Celebration Saturday, Feb. 22 with live music and lots of guests.

Published 1:37 am Thursday, February 20, 2025 The Springville Lady Tigers basketball team fell short in the Sweet 16 Regional Tournament at Jacksonville State University on Valentine’s Day. The season came to an end with three consecutive Area Championship and three consecutive Regional appearances. The Springville Middle School Archery team members competed against Leeds Feb. 11, with a final score of 2664.

The SHS Cross Country Track Team competed at the Class 5A, Section 2 Sectionals meet at Central Clay County High School Oct. 31. The team had several top 10 finishes and qualified for the state meet for both boys and girls teams. Congrats to Brayden Chandler for winning the Boys 5000m Race and Carmen McMaster, 2nd Place in the Girls 5000m. Adalyn Seigman, Felicity Bentley, Kate Hale, Tate Milstead and Brayden Marlow had Top 10 finishes as well.

The University of Montevallo Concert Choir led by Dr. Melinda Doyle visited the Springville High School to perform for the Springville Choir students on Oct. 24. On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the Springville Senior Center hosted Russell Lowe, Financial Resource Management Agent with the St. Clair County Extension Office, to teach seniors about Frauds and Scams and how to protect their finances. Springville Middle School 8th grade students experimented with bubble printing on Friday, Oct. 25.

The St. Clair County Police Memorial was dedicated Sunday, Oct. 13, at Big Springs Park with county and city leaders in attendance, along with police officers from around the county and families of fallen officers who were memorialized. Local author Joel Dison spoke about his new fiction book, “Conflict of Interest: A Springville Murder Mystery (Springville Murder Mysteries)” at the Springville Senior Center Friday, Oct. 11. Dison’s book is available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.
