U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio issued a warning about an uptick in a jury duty scam. The scammers will call, email or message a potential victim, telling them they missed jury duty and could be prosecuted, face jail time or fines. The scammers then request money in exchange. The U.S. District Court's warning says some scammers are using certified mail to seem legitimate. The communications are not connected with the courts.

Ohio State University's women's basketball coach will regain his driving privileges after a Dublin Mayor's Court hearing related to his May 6 arrest. Kevin McGuff, 55, did not appear in Dublin Mayor's Court on May 13 for a hearing related to the administrative suspension of his driver's license. McGuff has hired defense attorney Rick Piatt to represent him. McGuff is charged with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.

Two suspects have been charged with the aggravated murder of Aaron Collymore, whose body was found on railroad tracks in January 2021. Felisa Rogers, 44, is in custody, while an arrest warrant has been issued for 25-year-old Aaron Brown. Court records indicate Collymore was beaten, placed on the tracks, and had a stake driven through his heart. Police linked Rogers and Brown to the crime through evidence, video footage, and DNA.

Two special prosecutors, Tim Merkle and Gary Shroyer, were dismissed from the Ricky Anderson murder case by Franklin County Prosecutor Shayla Favor. Assistant Prosecutor David Zeyen has replaced Merkle and Shroyer on the case. Merkle and Shroyer were appointed by Favor's predecessor and had earned nearly $500,000 combined for their work on the Anderson case and another police-involved shooting case.

Sanctuary Night, a nonprofit aiding women struggling with addiction and sex trafficking, reached an agreement with the city of Columbus after a lawsuit. The agreement mandates increased security measures at Sanctuary Night, including banning drug use and loitering. The lawsuit stemmed from numerous police calls and neighbor complaints about criminal activity near the facility.
