William Lacy, indicted in 2024 for a 2015 homicide, has had charges dismissed due to the death of a key witness. The case involved the shooting death of 22-year-old Rondel Valentine on August 9, 2015. Despite numerous witnesses to the shooting, the case remained unsolved for over nine years, hampered by fear of retaliation. Lacy remains incarcerated on unrelated charges. A man indicted in 2024 for an unsolved 2015 homicide has had the charges against him dismissed after a witness in the case died. William Lacy Jr., 36, had been charged in connection with the Aug. 9, 2015, shooting death of 22-year-old Rondel Valentine. Franklin County Common Pleas Court records show the charges against Lacey were dismissed in advance of Lacy's scheduled April 2025 trial.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a small earthquake around 4:10 a.m. April 22 in southeastern Ohio. The quake was centered about 1.2 miles southeast of Pleasant City in Noble County and occurred at a depth of three miles. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources had taken no reports of damage. No injuries were reported. More than two dozen people responded to the National Geological Survey's website, reporting light to moderate shaking due to the quake.
