COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Visitors to Quarry Trails Metro Park on Mother’s Day noticed an oily substance in the water and were greeted with signs that read “no fishing” and “stay out of water.”Sunday’s weather was some of the nicest in central Ohio so far in 2025, and it was the Metro Park’s busiest day of the year. Jill Snyder, visitor engagement manager with Metro Parks, said the ranger who opened the park Sunday noticed a “black substance” in the water near Millikin Falls.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus residents have voted on which of three candidates will face off this November for a City Council seat. In unofficial results in the primary election, Jesse Vogel and Tiara Ross will meet again on November’s ballot to fill council’s District 7 seat after topping Kate Curry-Da-Souza on Tuesday. District 7 encompasses most of the city’s central neighborhoods and Downtown. All of the city’s residents, not just those residing in District 7, were able to vote on the race.

The neighborhood today is much different from it was when he moved in. “It was, well, vacant pretty much and really violent,” he said. “Half the neighborhood was boarded up.
