GALION, Ohio (WCMH) – A long line of people, many wearing their law enforcement uniforms, stretched out of the Northmor High School gymnasium Tuesday afternoon. Another line with hundreds more formed in the school cafeteria, waiting to get into the gym where Morrow County Deputy Daniel Sherrer’s family stood by his side. Morrow County Sheriff John Hinton greeted many of those people at the door, shaking their hands and offering hugs, hugs he never thought he would have to give.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A sheriff’s deputy was killed and three other officers injured in three separate shootings last week across central Ohio. Since last Monday – Memorial Day – there have been three separate shootouts between police and suspects. Most recently, Dustin Ohm, 29, was charged with attempted murder after allegedly opening fire on Marysville Police officers early Friday morning, then again on the median of U.S. Route 33 after a car chase.

MOUNT GILEAD, Ohio (WCMH) – Mount Gilead, the county seat of Morrow County, is currently without a tornado siren. Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Nelson maintains nine tornado sirens in the county, including two in Mount Gilead, but those two sirens haven’t worked in years. According to Mayor Donna Carver, that hasn’t been a problem for the community.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A massive tree came down and crashed into an East Side home on March 30. A 13-year-old was in the wrong place at the wrong time when the tree came down and she was pinned by a thick branch, her foot through the floor and stuck there for about an hour. Now, the teen is out of the hospital and the family is living in a hotel. That teen, Kallie Frederick, recalls exactly what happened that night.
