Every two years, Norwalk holds a municipal election. And every two years, the results are pretty much the same: Democrats sweep virtually everything of significance. Last November, Democrats retained control of the Mayor’s office, maintained a 15-to-1 majority on the Common Council, and a 9-to-0 majority on the Board of Education. For the record: I’m a Democrat. Between 1997 and 2019, I served 14 years on the Norwalk Common Council and six years on its BOE.

Female Norwalk students compete at wrestling in JD Freda’s 2023 documentary short Tough For a Girl. Produced under the auspices of Norwalk Public School Communications, the film is said to probe “community, female empowerment, equality in sports and sports funding.” According to a news release, it’ll have its World Premiere during the Norwalk Film Festival’s “Best Documentary Shorts” segment on Saturday Jan. 20 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Wall Street Theater.
