Funding continues to be raised for a restoration project aimed at preserving the history of the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. On Monday, Dec. 18, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina welcomed a new partnership with Duke Energy with the announcement of a $150,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. The funding will go toward renovations at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center. Duke Energy district Manager David McNeill visited the Lumbee Tribe Housing Complex on Monday to meet with Tribal Chairman John L.

Just 10 months ago, Kim and Karl Molnar opened Miller’s Brew Coffee Shop, a brick and mortar training center for adults with special needs. Since then the community has been abuzz over the new business and not just from the coffee. “We opened in February and we have been full steam ahead since the doors opened. Things have gone very, very well and we're really excited about our one year anniversary coming up as well as what the second year will bring,” shared Kim.

Two of Methodist University’s business students just competed in MikesBikes World Champs, an international collegiate business competition hosted by Smartsims Inc. of New Zealand. The competition utilizes software for students to run a simulated bicycle manufacturing company within a simulated industry. Student teams compete by running their firm within the industry. Results are based on each firm’s ending share price and shareholder value.
