I never thought WK had a bad chin, not granite but still respectable. Certainly intact enough at 41 to survive that hellacious uppercut that as you say totally finished off Whyte. He was still able to defend himself at the end too, slightly early stoppage. I think if he got to the bell he'd have recovered to make the 12th another war.

I've watched many of his fights recently. Douglas - it was an even fight which could've gone either way. The scores were too wide. Douglas almost knocked Jesse out at the end of the 1st with fantastic uppercut. A very good win. Mercer 1 - Ray underestimated Jesse, and Ferguson won easily, 98-92 IMO. Another good win. Mercer 2 - Mercer in excellent shape, motivated. IMO Ray won 96-93, action-packed fight. Bowe - Ferguson was in great shape, but prime Rid**** was too much for him.

I was recently doing some research on South African boxers. I don't know if he was THE BEST, but the most popular South African boxer in the 1970s (and maybe ever) was Elijah "Tap Tap" Makhathini. Makhthini was featured regularly on South African boxing telecasts. When the country finally got a national television station (that could be viewed by the whole country) in the mid '70s, he became the most popular television fighter in his country, among both whites and blacks.

Toney with his great defense and counter punching against Qawi's relentless yet skillful and strategic attack. Both guys had a tone of tricks up there sleeves and were true fighters. How do you see this one playing out had they met in there primes at light heavyweight or cruiserweight?

Evander Holyfield. And the story. The 1st fight I've ever watched was Holyfield-Cooper fight. Not only it was a great fight, but Holy also tore his right glove with numerous uppercuts to the Cooper's head. I remembered this moment especially. And the 2nd fight I've ever watched was Holy vs Bowe rematch, also a great fight. And a Fan man in the middle of the fight, another interesting event. You know, Holy was involved in so many legendary events through his career, it's hardly believable.
