A $65,000 fine was levied by Provincial Offences Court against Valley Blades Limited, 435 Phillip St., after the worker was injured on Oct. 5, 2023.     One man was sent to hospital with burns to his upper body and limbs after a devastating fire in Waterloo. The fire occurred Thursday, at approximately 4:30 p.m., at 298 Lexington Rd., said Waterloo Fire Chief Richard Hepditch. Five units of firefighters entered the residence to battle the blaze, which originated in the basement. Firefighters were able to get to the basement and extinguish the fire before searching the home.

    Jory Harris and her five roommates have been ducking into their home lately after two geese took over their Waterloo neighbourhood. The 22-year-old Wilfrid Laurier University student said the geese have menaced their section of Elgin Street, near uptown, for a week after the geese built a nest and laid eggs on the roof of the home across the street, and then set up residence on her lawn. Their front door camera has captured the hissing hooligans chasing anyone who passes by the home.
