By Barry Janoff April 17, 2025: The WTA Tour said today that its commercial division, WTA Ventures, has appointed global sports, music and entertainment management firm Wasserman as its sales agency of record “to help supercharge its continued growth.” Wasserman’s duties will cover “all partnership tiers, with specific attention dedicated to securing a new Premier Partner for the WTA.” In March 2022, the WTA and medical technology company Hologic jointly unveiled what was called a “landmark...

Typical of March, windy conditions prevailed much of the week — with some days strong and a few light wind days mixed in allowing anglers to run west into Gulf waters. Once again last week was a good week for catching sheepshead across inshore waters. Fish up to 7 pounds were caught from all the usual areas around the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River, the barrier islands, creeks, oyster bars and areas with structure and water movement.

December brings cooler days around Southwest Florida and a change in the way many of us fish. As temperatures drop, it will push small baitfish offshore and south to warmer waters. As this occurs, shrimp will become the primary diet for most fish through the winter months. There are few fish in our coastal waters that won’t eat shrimp; in fact, shrimp is the mainstay for most inshore species’ diet, especially through the cold months.

The inshore fishing was good throughout the week. Some days it was a bit breezy, but good strong tides kept fish biting. Early in the week the weather was warm then cooled down heading into the weekend. Anglers are catching a good number of redfish running in size from 17-23 inches around Pine Island Sound and Charlotte Harbor. Shrimp, pinfish and pilchards for natural baits, and spoons, plastic shad tails and Clouser minnow flies worked best for artificial baits.

Early to mid-week weather was unsettled as hurricane Rafael churned over Cuba and into gulf waters before heading west and away from us. Most fishing reports came late week and into the weekend with improved conditions. Beach anglers wading the surf on Captiva and Cayo Costa islands hooked into multiple species including snook, sea trout, whiting, mackerel, jack crevalle, and ladyfish. Baits included live shrimp, small red and white bucktail jigs, Berkley Gulp shrimp, and white Clouser flies.

Théophile-Jean Delaye was a master of blending science, art, and love through his paintings of Moroccan medinas street characters, craftsmen, and everyday objects. His works are a testament to the beauty found in the mountains and souks of Morocco. https://t.co/YU4Z8ZRZD8

We are in the wildfire season. A couple of years ago I made a series of paintings about the fires I experienced. I realized artists can lean in and bring meaning and empathy to tragedy. For me it's a path towards healing. https://t.co/mufNcM3w0g https://t.co/bR6e1EaCHG
