Neural stem cells (NSCs) are found along the neuraxis of the developing and mature central nervous system. They are found in defined niches that have been shown to regulate NSC behaviour in a regionally distinct manner. Specifically, previous research has shown that myelin basic protein (MBP), when presented in the spinal cord niche, inhibits NSC proliferation and oligodendrogenesis.

Protein-protein interactions are essential for a variety of biological phenomena including mediating bio-chemical reactions, cell signaling, and the immune response. Proteins seek to form interfaces which reduce overall system energy. Although determination of single polypeptide chain protein structures has been revolutionized by deep learning techniques, complex prediction has still not been perfected. Additionally, experimentally determining structures is incredibly resource and time expensive.

3.1 Recapitulating heart-SARS-CoV-2 interactions using heart-on-a-chip systems Heart-on-chip models integrating iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte and fibroblast cocultures have been utilized to generate contracting tissues and to simulate viral infection of cardiac tissue (Figure 6a). A number of reports using heart-on-a-chip models have shown that viral infection of cardiac tissues causes functional alterations. For instance, Marchiano et al.
