Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo yesterday called on Inspector-General (IG) Kayode Egbetokun and Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Oluwatosin Ajayi to arrest and prosecute one Olorogun Ese Kakor over alleged forgery of official state government documents. Kakor, according to a statement by Okpebholo’s media aide, Fed Itua, is the President of the Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at Aso Villa for the first time after he defected along with the structure of PDP into the APC. He declined to speak with reporters.

The 50th Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, yesterday assumed duty in Benin City. Agbonika, who hails from Idah Local Government Area in neighbouring Kogi State, succeeded Betty Otimenyin, an Edo indigene, who has been redeployed to the Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The 24-member Edo State House of Assembly has approved Governor Monday Okpebholo’s request to engage a consultant, Tiarua White Consults Ltd, in the recovery of state’s funds. The consultant, yesterday, according to Okpebholo, would review, reconcile and recover the funds due to Edo government from project Gazelle Afriexim loan and other crude oil loan arrangements. The deduction at source of 10 per cent as professional fee was also approved.

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested two more suspects over last Thursday’s killing of 16 travellers in Esan Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State. Security sources said they were arrested in Uromi and transferred to Abuja for interrogation. Kano State Government and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) yesterday commended the Federal and the Edo State governments for their response to the killings.
