(KWTX) - Recently, over 100 earthquakes were recorded in only 9 days in West Texas. Most of these earthquakes originated just east of Snyder Texas. The strongest earthquake was a 5.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred on July 26th. In this week’s Degrees of Science we are talking with Dr. Peter Hennings, the Principal Investigator for the Center for Injection and Seismicity Research at the Bureau of Economic Geology (at the University of Texas at Austin).

Pockets of scattered showers and thunderstorms will stick around as we move into the evening hours. Luckily severe weather potential is low with this activity, but some locally heavy rain and some lightning is possible. After sunset we will gradually see the coverage of rain drop off. Next we shift our attention to a complex of thunderstorm activity that “may” push towards our area tomorrow morning.
