We normally reserve calling for First Alert Weather Days this time of year due to severe thunderstorms. Our next First Alert Weather Day, this Wednesday, is for an upcoming heat wave that could bring Central Texas our hottest May day of all-time.

Scattered shower and thunderstorm chances return for Monday, but we don’t expect strong storms out of this activity. Our strong to severe potential picks up on Tuesday! Unfortunately there is still a lot of uncertainty in the weather model data that has been coming in this weekend, so there are some question marks on the timing of storms and how likely the severe weather threat will materialize.

Central Texas is in a prime position to see a few different rounds of showers and thunderstorms over the coming few days and likely even stretching into next week as well. We’re keeping a close eye on the potential for heavy rain each day that’ll lead to flash flooding, but Wednesday is a First Alert Weather Day for the likelihood for strong storms to blossom during the afternoon and evening hours.
