DETROIT – Six Michigan Panthers have been named to the All-UFL Team, the United Football League announced this week. Despite missing three games, Michigan’s Bryce Perkins was named the league’s top quarterback after he completed nearly 70 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,342 yards and 9 touchdowns and running for 269 yards and 5 touchdowns for the 6-4 Panthers.

PETOSKEY, MI – A Michigan man died after he was hit by a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot. According to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Donald Paul Mitas, 83, of Saginaw was walking in the parking lot in Petoskey when he was hit at noon on June 1. He was transported to McLaren Hospital for treatment but died from his injuries on June 2. The driver of the vehicle involved, Erin Nichole Hay, 24, of Alanson, was uninjured.

BOYNE CITY, MI – A man died after he fell from a boat and hit his head in Northern Michigan. According to the Boyne City Police Department, the 70-year-old victim was leaning over the side of a boat when he fell at Harborage Marina in Boyne City 11:07 p.m. on May 30. Officers, a marine employee and nearby witnesses attempted to locate the man but were initially unsuccessful. He was found at 11:16 p.m. and lifesaving measures were attempted on the dock.
