MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI -- The Gillette Visitor Center’s $1.6 million renovation is complete and the parking lot has reopened. That’s the good news for visitors of P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. However, the center isn’t quite open yet. The visitor center’s exterior facelift may be done, but now it’s ready to get the inside looking just as pretty. The visitor center is extending its construction closure until early fall, said Melissa VanderVelde, unit supervisor for Hoffmaster.

A New York native, Gage played his college ball at Siena and was drafted in the 10th round by the San Francisco Giants in 2014.

MUNISING, MI -- One of Michigan’s remote islands is enjoying new found popularity as it’s annual visitor base has grown from 2,000 to 20,000 since the 1990s. Now that visitors have found it, the question is what do they want to do there. The Grand Island National Recreation Area has long been a untamed getaway in Lake Superior, across from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising.
