BEAUMONT, Texas — The Lamar Cardinals signed 12 new players on National Signing Day to push their overall number to 29 players signed. Big Red signed multiple defensive players to help solidify that side of the football team. Seven linebackers, seven defensive backs and four defensive lineman were added to the roster for the Cardinals. On the offensive side of the team, they added three offensive lineman, three wide receivers, three running backs, two tight ends and a quarterback.

NEDERLAND, Texas — Nederland Independent School District hired a new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach earlier today by unanimous decision. Scott Rich will be the new guy in charge of Nederland Athletics. He comes from Katy High School where he was the quarterback coach for eight years. He worked with Gary Joseph while at the school. Coach Rich comes to Nederland with 30 years of coaching experience and says he is excited to be here.

Reclassification and realignment information came out this morning at 9 a.m. covering football, volleyball and basketball for the 2024 through the 2026 seasons. The 38 page document explains which schools changed classes and districts based on enrollment numbers and were taking requests into consideration as well.
