ORANGE, Texas — Pat Schlapper from Eleva, Wisconsin, etched his name into Bassmaster history on Sunday in Orange. Schlapper secured his first Elite Series title with a narrow victory at the 2025 MAXAM Tire Bassmaster Elite at the Sabine River. Once all fish had all been tallied, the four-day total of 38 pounds, 12 ounces Schlapper brought in edged out South Carolina's Patrick Walters by 2 pounds, 4 ounces, earning him the coveted blue trophy and a $101,000 payday.

BEAUMONT, Texas — History was made for a Southeast Texas baseball program. For the first time in the program's existence, the Brookeland Wildcats baseball team is headed to the Regional Finals round after sweeping the Chester Yellowjackets at Vincent-Beck Stadium, home of the Lamar Cardinals. Game one of the series was electrifying and showcased the offensive prowess of both teams as the Wildcats claimed the 12-11 victory in eight innings of play.

NEDERLAND, Texas — A proud moment unfolded this week in the Nederland High School gymnasium once again. Three standout Bulldog student-athletes made their college dreams official by signing their National Letters of Intent. Troy Sedtal, Kyra Long, and Jayden Davis all put pen-to-paper to solidify their future career in academics and athletics. Sedtal committed to Iowa Central Community College and will be competing in the high jump, triple jump, and the 400m dash.

KIRBYVILLE, Texas — Making our way back into District 10-3A D1, we make a stop North of Beaumont in Kirbyville, Texas where the Wildcats enter 2024 under former Daingerfield Offensive Coordinator Seth Hubbard. Last season the Wildcats fought hard and won a share of the district title in 2023. Making the playoffs, the team was eliminated in the first round by the Shepherd Pirates. With a new season on the horizon, Coach Hubbard is prepared to get his guys in the right mindset.
