Lines at ticketing counters and through security at Colorado Springs Airport moved expeditiously Wednesday morning, the first day U.S. air travelers are now required to provide an enhanced form of identification to board commercial flights or enter certain federal facilities. All was as routine at the airport, just as the Transportation Security Administration and airport officials expected.

El Pollo Loco, the popular Southern California restaurant chain known for its grilled chicken and fast-casual Tex-Mex fare, is coming to Colorado Springs. The restaurant will move into the former KFC location at 825 E. Fillmore St. in central Colorado Springs, the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department announced in a Facebook post this week. Planned renovations for the project total more than $1 million. It was unclear Tuesday when the new El Pollo Loco location could open.

A heavy-duty loader scoops a mass of mixed recyclables into its steel bucket and then, gingerly, the operator deposits the materials into a sorting machine. Old cardboard and plastic bottles blended with remnants of paper products and glass are then run along separate conveyor belts, as they're sorted by type before they're mashed into multi-ton bales and sold to mills for further processing. From there, they will be remade into new products.

Colorado Springs residents will have two opportunities next week to learn more about and provide feedback on city-led updates to the long-term master plan guiding development downtown. The Experience Downtown Master Plan Update project team will host two open houses on May 8. Residents can review the draft plan and provide input on its vision, goals and action steps, a Thursday news release from the Downtown Partnership said.

After law enforcement officers raided an "underground" nightclub early Sunday morning, Mayor Yemi Mobolade said he foresees additional arrests in Colorado Springs' future. "I anticipate that there will be more arrests. I hope to see more raids happen in my city. This is not the first one," Mobolade told national media outlet NewsNation Now. More than 300 law enforcement officers from at least 10 agencies raided the property at 296 S.
