Manitou Springs sophomore Addison Dorsey played the final eight holes at 2-under par, finishing the two-round tournament at 7-over 151 (76-75), placing second at the 2A championship at Pueblo Country Club. The title went to Colorado Academy’s Sophia Lee, who shot 2-over 146. Dorsey enjoyed several hot stretches in the event, carding birdies on holes 6 and 7 and then Nos. 11-13 in her first round. LAKEWOOD • This title, the 13th in program history, was never a given for The Classical Academy girls. Star sprinter Heidi Nielsen battled injuries all season that nearly kept her out of state. Two runners were disqualified in the 3,200 when the leaders were ruled to have cut to an inside lane too early. For the first time in more than a decade, there were no Willis sisters to add guaranteed points in the pole vault.

LAKEWOOD – Addison Ritzenhein obviously has the genetics to excel at running, being the daughter of a three-time Olympian. But physical gifts or not, when the lungs empty and the legs ache, the fire has to be lit from within to keep burning. And Ritzenheim is blazing right now. The Niwot junior captured the 4A 1,600-meter crown in 4:47.05 on Saturday, defending the title she won last year. On Thursday she won her third consecutive 3,200.
