Daily Camera player of the year Reagan Kotschau of Broomfield and Longmont Times-Call honoree Katy Adler of Mead led 27 players from the Boulder and St. Vrain Valley school districts on CHSAA’s the all-state girls soccer teams. Kotschau (11 goals, five assists) and F Victoria Choren (six, two) were named 5A first-teamers as each had a major hand in moving Broomfield all the way to the semifinals this past spring.

BoCoPreps.com player of the year Kai Modica leads eight players from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont area on the Colorado High School Activities Association's all-state boys lacrosse team. Modica, leading the attack for Fairview, was named to Class 5A's first team after he had 49 goals and 28 assists for the Knights, who won 11 games this past spring, earning a first-round bye in the postseason.

Lucy Connors understands the importance of loss — so long as it can be used to strengthen things like resolve and understanding, both of which she has far more than her age would let on. The recent Mead High School graduate reflected on her girls lacrosse career with the Mavericks in the late morning Wednesday. It’s one that impressed all four years and got better with age. As a senior this past spring, Connors was the state’s top scorer with 113 of her 241 career goals.
