A Broomfield Animal Service officer rescued a fox on Tuesday after it was found trapped in a window well. In body camera footage posted on X, an officer can be seen getting into the window well, grabbing the fox by the scruff of its neck and lifting it up and out of the well. According to the post, the officer handed the fox to another officer who carried it to the front of the home to be reunited with its family.

Broomfield may form an “Enterprise Advisory Committee” to advise decision-making when it comes to water funds. Broomfield’s funds from water, sewer and water reclamation bills (collectively the Utility Funds) operate as “enterprise” funds. In a study session meeting on Tuesday, the Broomfield City Council will hear an update from city staffers regarding these funds, as part of the first quarterly financial update to the Council.

Our backyard flooded last summer. Over the winter, we secretly hoped the yard fairy would sprinkle magic dust over the situation and make it go away. Unfortunately, the little pixie must have been hibernating. We were staring at the same sopping wet mess this spring. We hired a contractor. The plan: remove the top twelve inches of soil, re-grade the area, install a French drain, layer rocks over the subsoil and pipe, lay down geotextile fabric over the entire yard, add top soil and new sod.

Monday12:05 a.m.: A second degree burglary was reported at a commercial office building on International Court. 2:16 p.m.: Police were called to a parking lot/garage on the 12100 block of Sheridan Boulevard for suspected theft. 6:54 p.m.: Authorities responded to a report of license plate theft at a residence/home on the 200 block of Summit Boulevard. 11:15 p.m.: A suspected theft was reported at a residence/home on the 13800 block of Del Corso Way.

Broomfield is gearing up for Earth Day by hosting an event that its Mother (Earth) would approve of. At 10 a.m. April 19 at the Broomfield Library, 3 Community Park Road, Broomfielders can get together to celebrate Earth Day. The event will feature a host of eco-themed activities, including a seed swap, a bike repair station and energy expert speakers. At the seed swap, attendees can bring extra seeds from their garden to share while taking home new varieties from other gardens.
