Long Beach is a breakfast city. A brunch city. And definitely a day-drinking city. (One of my first professional meetings with my executive director some 15 years ago led to the dubbing of the “Long Beach two-beer lunch,” where he noticed during a lunch meeting that nearly everyone around him, whether in suits or shorts, had a beer if not two for lunch. Ah, the good ol’ days.)Given that, we take our brunch and breakfast rather seriously.

Ten Mile Brewing—the medal-grabbing brewery that might be in Signal Hill but is undoubtedly thoroughly Long Beach—has long been experimenting with food. They were one of the first spots to give Shady Grove Foods a residency as a popup, and they also blew up the popularity Cambodian Cowboy Chad Phuong and Battambong BBQ from their parking lot. They’ve hosted Cajun Fests to honor the Sundstrom family’s creole-cajun background and Cambodian New Year celebrations.

Prepare for the return of tea and cucumber sandwiches as The Wicked Wolf brings back its tea service this coming week. Tea service will now be offered Friday through Sunday 10AM to 4:00PM, with cocktail service every day beginning at 5PM. “The cost of supporting a startup caught up with us pretty quickly,” said owner Thea Mercouffer. “And, after a particularly slow month, I buckled at the weight of it.
