Published 12:05 am Friday, May 9, 2025 You can expect the Green Ridge portion of Tuesday’s meeting to go quickly, but that doesn’t mean any final votes will be taken. The Cumberland Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday, May 13 for their regular monthly meeting, but while Green Ridge is on the agenda, it’s just to set a date. Specifically, supervisors on Tuesday will just be setting a date for the public hearing, currently expected to be held in June.

They emailed The Herald, complained online and generally wanted to know when the problem would be addressed. The good news? All the work involving John Randolph Road will be finished by either the end of this week or the beginning of next week. There have been several issues with that road, causing problems for drivers in turn.

Folks as far east as Richmond and as far south as Keysville reported seeing parts of their homes shake. In the end, the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that we did in fact have an earthquake hit the area.

Now the town has provided an answer. The start for this season is Friday, May 23, beginning at 11 a.m. This season, the pool will be open Monday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for anyone who buys a daily pass for $10. Those with a season pass will get in either a bit earlier or a bit later.

But in the end, Youngkin did respond on Friday, May 2, signing the Save Local Pharmacies Act into law. The goal of the new law is to streamline the Medicaid process for local pharmacies, especially independent ones. It will create one single, state-contracted Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) for Medicaid.

However, it’s a much smaller set of races than originally expected, as Republicans have already chosen their candidates in the statewide races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. The current president of the AMMD Pine Grove Project, she was speaking against the proposed Green Ridge landfill in Cumberland. Branch-Wilson spoke about what the county would be giving up, if this project actually got approved. It would be harder to attract visitors to the museum, she argued, because of the landfill smell nearby.
