    SHELTON - The 113th House seat in the state legislature remained in Republican control as Amy Romano defeated Democrat Michael Duncan in Tuesday's special election, unofficial results showed. Romano, currently Shelton's Board of Education chair, garnered 1,634 votes (52%) compared to her Democrat challenger's 1,475 votes, according to totals announced at the Republican headquarters. Duncan said he called Romano to concede and congratulate her on the victory.

    MILFORD - Founders Walk's long-planned upgrades are a step away from reality. At its meeting Tuesday, the Planning and Zoning Board offered positive 8.24 referrals to the city, allowing for phase-two work at Founders Walk, an easement to South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority and partial discontinuance of Shipyard Lane. This decision comes as some residents remain concerned about the improvements, which they said could worsen an unsafe pedestrian and vehicular situation.
