FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – At the Phillips family’s school, the dress code is casual, and the mascot is a 14-year-old dog. They say their test scores are impressive, though. “Just for example, my son just graduated eighth grade. He tests 12th grade level,” homeschool mom Maria Phillips said. Philips started homeschooling her kids through a charter school nine years ago. “We’re doing it because my daughter has an autoimmune disease,” Phillips said.

The Fresno Senior Softball League gets those in their aged prime out on the diamond for weekly competition. “It has an effect coming out here. You’re running like five miles a week playing one game,” League Vice President Ike Pursell said. The oldest among them is 90-year-old batter and catcher Frank Cervantez. “I’ve done this all my life.

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Monache High School in Porterville was temporarily on lockdown Monday after a man walked onto campus and stabbed a student. Police later arrested 19-year-old Noah Seratte in connection with the crime. Monache is a closed campus with a fence wrapping around the entire school.
