DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The Quad Cities River Bandits kicked off their season at home against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Tuesday night. First pitch for the home opener was at 6:30 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park. The River Bandits fell to the Timber Rattlers 4-0. The River Bandits will continue to play at home through Sunday. The team already has three wins under its belt, including a doubleheader in Peoria on April 5. Crews recently finished installing a new field at Modern Woodmen Park.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The Davenport Central Blue Devils are looking to start the season off strong after team bonding during the offseason helped shape up team chemistry. The Davenport Central football team’s motto hasn’t changed this season. ‘We Before Me,’ was what head coach Alex Berg has instilled in his squad over the last two seasons. “It’s never going to go away, and we live by it, so literally, doing whatever you can that’s best for the team,” Coach Berg said.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill (KWQC) - Rock Island High School, Washington and Edison Junior High all have brand new Evolv weapon detectors. This comes after a meeting in June where the Rock Island-Milan School District announced the $400,000 plan. The Evolv weapon detector at Washington Jr. High is inside the front doors. The device detects mass metal so a belt for example wouldn’t trigger the sensor.

SHERRARD, Ill (KWQC) - Coffee shops in small towns aren’t very common, but a coffee shop on wheels might be even less common. Brews Energy located at 410 Third St. in Sherrard serves energy drinks, smoothies, refreshers, lattes and frappes out of a trailer.
