On April 19, Pagano, who performs kindie music under the solo name Marko Polo and with his band Fire Dog, will debut his new album, Tree Sounds, at the Arbor Day “Tree Fest” celebration in Tower Grove Park.

    Kyle Pasley remembers the feeling of freedom the first time that he stepped on a skateboard. The thrill, he says, is in learning what it’s like to fail—and then recover. “Skateboarding is one of those things where it’s completely normal to get it wrong a thousand times before you get it right once–and then, once you get it right, it’s completely normal to mess up 500 more times before you get it a second time,” he says.

    From flying a simple single-line kite to participating in full-on “kite battles,” the tradition of kite-flying is a pastime that spans generations. At the heart of the timeless activity within the park-laden St. Louis metro area is the Gateway Kite Club, which has been around for more than 30 years. According to Mitch Cordover, an executive member of the club, the historical roots of kite-flying trace back almost a thousand years, when it was once used as a military strategy.
