HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One person is dead, and more than a dozen others were injured when a shooting broke out during a family gathering in southeast Houston, police said. The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of Cheryhill. According to police, a family gathering was taking place when an uninvited guest arrived. The guest was asked to leave, and police said he did, but not before firing as he left. Gunfire was also returned from many residents at the scene.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Carney Jones has lived at the Magnolia Place Senior apartment complex for years and says elevator problems are nothing new. "This is about the third or fourth time out of the five years," Jones said. Jones says the elevators stopped working almost two weeks ago after the last storm, leaving her in her apartment since then. She told ABC13 that getting down the stairs is not the issue; for her, it's getting up.

The closure of MidCoast Medical Center Trinity will leave people in the community with a 20 to 30-minute drive just to get to an emergency room; this comes after the hospital first closed in 2017.

Giant Dollar is now having to make small changes due to the tariffs. "As our prices increase, we keep increasing our selling prices, and that's been difficult. It's been so challenging, you see prices marked up throughout," Giant Dollar owner Nick Merchant said.
