Only two communities in Southeast New Mexico were donning their school colors and packing their game-day bags.

Enjoy the Thanksgiving meal next week, but save some room for dessert: Your Bulldogs are back in the state championship game. With a dominant 50-14 victory over #6 Mayfield Saturday at Bulldog Bowl, the second-ranked 'Dogs rolled on into the Class 5A title tilt, and the rematch that awaits certainly won't feel like leftovers. For the second consecutive year, it'll be Artesia-Roswell High for the blue trophy, and the boys in orange have their sights firmly set on a threepeat.

The Bulldog football team punched its ticket to the Class 5A State Semifinals Saturday at Bulldog Bowl with a dominant 45-7 win over #7 Lovington. From a momentum-grabbing interception to a punt block, a fumble scoop for a touchdown to an onside kick recovery, the hits just kept on coming. Every phase of the game got in on the scoring action in Saturday's quarterfinal bout, and the Orange Crush defense held Lovington at bay through the final three quarters in a big playoff debut for the 'Dogs.

Martin Green – for the Daily PressBy Brienne GreenArtesians were shocked Monday afternoon to find themselves saying anabrupt and unexpected goodbye to a mainstay in the local restaurant community. Around 5 p.m. Monday, a post appeared on Pecos Diamond Steakhouses’s Facebook page, alerting patrons to the fact that the eatery would be closing, effective immediately. “We are very sad to have to announce that as of today we are no longer in business,” the post read.
