Big changes will likely be felt this week after last month's 145% China tariff announcement by President Donald Trump. Much of the goods that may be impacting your wallet come into the U.S. through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. For the port of LA, items from China make up 45% of its business. Leaders from the Port of LA believe shipping volume will shrink by 35% this week and they're expecting a quarter of the usual number of arriving ships to the port to be totally cancelled this month.

A controlled burn is planned this week in the Pacific Palisades area as fire investigators continue looking into the potential origin of the deadly Palisades Fire. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is planning what they call controlled fire testing along the Temescal Ridge trail, setting the hillsides on fire Tuesday night. It is the same area where a small New Year's Day fire sparked behind homes along the trail in the Palisades Highlands.

About 55,000 union workers in Los Angeles County are getting ready to go on strike tonight. The strike is expected to start at 7 p.m. and last through 6:59 p.m. on Wednesday night. LA County says it's anticipating its libraries to operate with reduced resources and at some locations, it's possible the library will be closed altogether.
