Troy’s dominant second-half performance helped them to defeat Georgia Southern 28-20 on Saturday. After trailing 10-7 at halftime, the Trojans scored on their first three drives of the second half to take control. Georgia Southern answered with a 3-yard touchdown run from OJ Arnold, but Troy regained the lead and sealed the win with a 16-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown from Matthew Caldwell.

The Georgia Southern Eagles continued their undefeated run with a hard-fought 54-50 victory over Bethune-Cookman, holding off a late rally to secure the win in a tightly contested game. 1st QuarterBoth teams held each other to fewer than 10 points until the final seconds of the quarter. The Eagles and Wildcats each scored late baskets, with the quarter ending in a close 12-10 lead for GS. 2nd QuarterThe quarter started off slow-paced, with both teams staying under 20 points nearly halfway through.

Many students have noticed over the last month the black boxes in the library. They have notes with the words “This is NOT a trash can”. Then what are they? Over this weekend the library has filled these boxes with plants, bringing life and greenery to the second floor of the library. Librarian Timothy Lowder say’s the library placed these “pots” awaiting the arrival of their fresh plants but their order took longer than expected.

Georgia Southern announced yesterday the parting with Athletic Director(AD), Jared Banko as he leaves for Auburn and named Chris Davis as new director . Benko has been with GS Athletics for four and a half years beginning in March of 2020 and has had a successful run with the program since, including impressive fundraising records, new projects and other achievements. Benko has been appointed the Executive Deputy Director of Athletics at Auburn University.

With help from the GS defense and disciplined ball control from the offense, the Eagles secured their third conference win against James Madison. 1st Half: Despite committing two turnovers in the first quarter, the Eagles’ defense held the Bulldogs scoreless during that period and recorded the first touchdown of the game on a 29-yard run by David Mbadinga, followed by a successful kick from Gavin Stewart.

Misinformation – false or inaccurate information – and its rampant spread is a major issue today, and can influence how we access, think about, and respond to critical information. “[It is] very much harmful in regards to the ways that people take information and pass it along. So if one person believes something, they post it on social media. Their friend group says it, it spreads and it just… creates these larger issues,” according to Jabari Gibbs, an accountability reporter for The Current.

In a thrilling finish, Dexter Williams II threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Derwin Burgess Jr. with just one minute left, leading Georgia Southern to the largest second-half comeback in Allen E. Paulson Stadium history. The Eagles stunned Marshall 24-23 after scoring three touchdowns in the final minutes of the game. The first quarter featured three field goals, including a 42-yarder from Gavin Stewart.

A historic $3 million gift from Georgia Southern alumni has led to a name change for the field at Paulson Stadium, marking the largest donation in the history of GS Athletics. Following the conclusion of the Spring 2024 semester, GS Athletics announced that the home field for GS Football will now be known as “Allen E. Paulson Stadium at Evans Family Field.”Previously, the field was named in honor of the Bryant family.
