The Office of Multicultural Affairs hosted an event Wednesday night at the Interdisciplinary Academic Building to celebrate Black History and to inform students about black organizations on campus. The event was run by Sisters With Vision (SWV), a student organization focusing on academic excellence. It had a variety of activities, including presentations, spoken word poetry and more.

Simon Brookes was, by his own admission, a total screw-up. I know this because I was his only friend. We’d met in our sophomore year of high school, where after about twenty minutes of talking about video games he invited me to his place for two things: bad horror movies and alcohol. Before Simon, I was never much of a party person. I was pretty sheltered growing up and had always stayed away from things like that since they made me nervous. I just kept my head down and focused on school work.

Troy’s dominant second-half performance helped them to defeat Georgia Southern 28-20 on Saturday. After trailing 10-7 at halftime, the Trojans scored on their first three drives of the second half to take control. Georgia Southern answered with a 3-yard touchdown run from OJ Arnold, but Troy regained the lead and sealed the win with a 16-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown from Matthew Caldwell.

Statesboro welcomed one of its first vintage stores on Sunday with a great turnout of shoppers. The Archive is a new local downtown vintage store that sells various vintage clothing, sneakers, and hats. The store was founded by two Georgia Southern graduates, Johnny McFatten and Tyler Brands, who were both interested in starting their own vintage clothing store.

The Georgia Southern Eagles continued their undefeated run with a hard-fought 54-50 victory over Bethune-Cookman, holding off a late rally to secure the win in a tightly contested game. 1st QuarterBoth teams held each other to fewer than 10 points until the final seconds of the quarter. The Eagles and Wildcats each scored late baskets, with the quarter ending in a close 12-10 lead for GS. 2nd QuarterThe quarter started off slow-paced, with both teams staying under 20 points nearly halfway through.
