A man told Denton police he chased an armed stranger who picked a fight with him and shot at his vehicle early Monday morning, according to a police report. At about 12:31 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West University Drive for a shots-fired call. Officers met with the caller. He said he was walking to his vehicle parked behind some businesses when an unknown man started yelling at him.

Denton police are investigating an armed robbery at a food store in the 100 block of East McKinney Street early Monday morning, according to a police report. Officers responded to a 911 call from a clerk at about 12:04 a.m.The clerk said he was closing down the store when two armed men entered and each pointed guns at him. They demanded money and threatened to shoot him, the clerk said. The robbers also took the clerk’s phone and made him lie down behind the counter until they left the store.
