London Culbreath grew up just down the road in McKinney before stints at Arkansas and TCU. Culbreath enjoyed her time at TCU but decided it was time for a change ahead of her junior season. There were plenty of schools that were interested in the three-time winner of the Gatorade Texas Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Year award, including UNT.

Denton City Council makes it official by certifying election results, swearing in winners and setting runoff for District 3

The Denton City Council certified the May 3 election results during a special called meeting Tuesday afternoon, followed by ordering the runoff election for District 3 to be held on Saturday, June 7. District 3 will see candidates Suzi Rumohr and Margie Ellis facing off in the runoff for the council seat after Ellis received three more votes than candidate Karen Jill DeVinney, who acknowledged her loss Monday on her campaign Facebook page.

A measure just passed by the Senate exposes anyone who manufactures, distributes, mails, prescribes or provides an abortion-inducing drug to lawsuits of up to $100,000, The Texas Tribune reports. It also expands the wrongful death statute to encourage family members, like men who believe their partner had an abortion, to sue up to six years after the event.

The fifth-year senior stuck around Denton long enough to go through graduation ceremonies Friday before jumping on a plane to join her teammates for the final round of the National Golf Invitational at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes on Sunday. Paul shot a 77 in the and helped UNT finish third as a team at 33-over par.
Woman injured passenger after hitting windshield with bat, Denton police say

Police arrested a woman Friday after she allegedly hit a car windshield with a bat, injuring one of the occupants. A husband and wife were driving for DoorDash at about 11:30 p.m, according to a police report. The husband was driving, and the wife was in the passenger seat. They were driving behind a U-Haul vehicle that suddenly stopped near the intersection of Panhandle Street and Heritage Trail.
Argyle announces new Town Manager Mike Sims

Argyle recently announced the hiring of its new town manager: Mike Sims. He will officially begin the new role May 21.
