The Dillons-sponsored racer met fans at the North Topeka store ahead of the Spring NASCAR Weekend at the Kansas Speedway. Buescher stood in for pictures and autographs on everything from shirts and tires to front bumpers while revving up for some big competition at the track. “I love this race track,” Buescher said. “It’s a very unique mile and a half, it’s aged really well.

    TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - State leaders are speaking out against the release of a man convicted in the murder of a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper. Jimmy Nelms was convicted in the 1978 shooting of Trooper Conroy O’Brien and sentenced to life in prison. The Kansas Prisoner Review Board granted Nelms parole, despite heavy opposition from KHP and others. A statement from the Governor’s Office Friday said she disagreed with the decision, and urged the Review Board to reverse course.

Flywheel Fairlawn, LLC, is requesting that the City of Topeka zone the property at 605 SW Fairlawn Rd. to allow the installation of a gas station with pumps and limited truck service.
