Application period open for alligator hunt permitsApplications for the 2025 Arkansas alligator hunting season will be available at agfc.com from 8 a.m. June 15 through midnight July 14. Alligator season dates will be Sept. 19-22 and Sept. 26-29. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age the day the hunt begins, and only Arkansas residents may apply. As in 2024, hunters may choose one of 10 public land hunting areas in South Arkansas.

Gizmo finally left the nest!Along with its sibling Sunny, Gizmo is one of two female bald eaglets that have captured the world's fancy. Their parents are Jackie and Shadow. Researchers installed a camera beside their nest in a big tree on a mountain that towers 145 feet over Big Bear Lake in northern California. The camera broadcasts a live feed on YouTube 24/7, and the raptors also have a Facebook page. In March, the eaglets hatched on camera on a snow-covered nest.

Opening day of Arkansas Modern Gun Deer Season is slow. Not much happening.

The Big Bass Bonanza on the Arkansas Ruver June 26-28 has been cancelled. Details in tomorrow’s Arkansas Demi-Gazette.

On a 5-2 vote, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will require all waterfowl hunters to be off the water by noon at Bayou Meto and Black River Dave Donaldson Black River WMAs for the 2020-21 waterfowl seasons.
