HOT SPRINGS -- Matteo Turano of Puryear, Tenn., has delivered astonishing consistency to take command of the Bass Fishing League All-American championship on Lake Hamilton. During Friday's second round, Turano weighed in five bass that registered 19 pounds, 13 ounces. He caught 19-10 during the first round Thursday to log a combined two-day weight of 39-7.

HOT SPRINGS -- Buoyed by a 9-pound, 6-ounce largemouth bass, Buddy Benson of Dahlonega, Ga., led the first round of the Bass Fishing League All-American bass championship Thursday with a five-bass limit weighing 20 pounds, 3 ounces on Lake Hamilton. Benson's lead was only 9 ounces ahead of Matteo Tirana of Puryear, Tenn., who caught a 7-8 largemouth to anchor a total of 19-10.

In April, a flood devastated the hatchery for the second time in eight years. A catastrophic flood also wrecked hatchery in April 2017. Unlike the federal trout hatcheries at Greers Ferry Lake, Lake Norfork and at Mammoth Spring, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission owns the Spring River hatchery.

America's best amateur bass anglers will visit Hot Springs from May 29-31 for the 42nd annual Major League Fishing BFL All-American on Lake Hamilton. This will be the seventh time Hot Springs has hosted the nation's premier amateur championship, presented over the years by Operation Bass/Red Man, Fishing League Worldwide and Major League Fishing. It is the sixth time to be held on Lake Hamilton.

Opening day of Arkansas Modern Gun Deer Season is slow. Not much happening.

The Big Bass Bonanza on the Arkansas Ruver June 26-28 has been cancelled. Details in tomorrow’s Arkansas Demi-Gazette.

On a 5-2 vote, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will require all waterfowl hunters to be off the water by noon at Bayou Meto and Black River Dave Donaldson Black River WMAs for the 2020-21 waterfowl seasons.
