The farmer members of Riceland Foods have elected three new members to its board of directors. Benjamin Nobles of Poplar Bluff, Mo. will serve as the new director representing District Four. Mikka Felty of Stanford, Ark. will serve as a director of District Two. Gary Sitzer of Weiner, Ark. will serve Riceland members in District Three. Riceland’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Rich Hillman welcomed the incoming directors.

Construction progress is beginning in the vicinity of the former Citizens Bank in downtown Jonesboro. If the weather holds, work in the area should be complete by mid-May and normal road and pedestrian traffic should resume, according to the city. Sidewalk work is slated to begin this week, and site stabilization consisting of sod and seeding to establish grass cover has started. An asphalt overlay project will begin next week along with the reinstallation of a traffic signal.

The transaction closed at $2.45 million. The property is located within the city’s designated growth corridor known as Parker Hollow. The project is led by Reliance Health Care, serving as the developer and administrative services provider for the coming facility.

Arkansas State University has named Dr. Annette Hux as dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Science (COEBS). Dr. Calvin White, executive vice chancellor and provost said her appointment is effective July 1, pending ASU System Board of Trustees confirmation. “In her interim term, Dr. Hux has proven herself an effective administrator and the right person to lead the College of Education and Behavioral Science for continued success,” said White.
