Inside the enclosed basketball court at University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Activities Center, civil engineering students took drones out for an aerial drive. In controlled movements, pushing two joysticks on a small tablet, they steered the drones up and down and side to side in ideal conditions — no obstructions in the air and no inclement weather. “It needs to be really stable,” said Zhe Yin, an assistant professor of instruction in the department of civil engineering.

Last month, ENR Texas & Louisiana announced this year's category winners for its annual Best Projects competition, recognizing the best in design and construction in the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma. Dallas Business Journal has published a new list of veteran-owned companies in North Texas ranked by revenue. A construction company led the way with about $2.9 million in revenue per employee. The Fort Worth-based company recorded $248.4 million in revenue in 2023, more than any other company that responded to Dallas Business Journal's new list of veteran-owned businesses in North Texas.
