The Vikings have been the kings of signing undrafted rookies, and many of them have contributed in the past, especially under the current regime. Just last year, Taki Taimani, Dwight McGlothern, Gabriel Murphy, and Bo Richter made their NFL debut in purple despite not hearing their names called in the draft. Ivan Pace Jr., of course, was the rookie sensation in 2023. This year, the club once again invested some serious cash to lure the top guys to the Twin Cities.

The Minnesota Vikings have tried many different cornerback combinations this decade, but after the departures of Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes in the 2020 offseason, the corner play hasn’t been fun to watch. Once again, the group has undergone a transformation this offseason. Byron Murphy Jr. was re-signed and will continue to be the team’s CB1. Stephon Gilmore, Shaq Griffin, and Fabian Moreau exited the building in March, leaving the next three spots on the depth chart up for grabs.

The Minnesota Vikings entered the offseason with many roster holes, such as the offensive line, the defensive line, and the secondary. About two months after free agency, it’s fair to say that they have addressed all of them and have at least a tangible option at every spot for Week 1. However, some wished the Vikings had spent more resources to bolster the secondary, especially in the draft.

The Minnesota Vikings will have a completely retooled offensive line in September, and the defensive line is much scarier than last season. In addition to that, J.J. McCarthy is expected to be the new quarterback to captain Kevin O’Connell’s offense, and Jordan Mason will be the reliable RB2 the club has tried to find for a while. Those things sound good and should excite fans for the upcoming 2025 campaign. But there’s one thing that still needs to be addressed, and that’s the cornerback group.
